This Pentax 50mm f1.4 Super-Multi-Coated Takumar lens fits the Pentax Spotmatic and earlier cameras, as well as many other cameras that accept the “universal” M42 thread mount lens. It is a standard focal length lens with a very fast maximum aperture of f1.4. It is a great lens to always have on your camera but will also excel at indoor or low light photography, or situations where really shallow depths of field are desired. This lens has a 49mm filter thread.
Due to the coatings on this lens, it has yellowed over time and will continue to yellow. The yellowing of the glass can be mitigated by exposing the lens to ultra-violet light, but the coating will always continue to yellow. Many photographers will use this yellowing as a built-in contrast filter for black-and-white film or to offset the tungsten balance in tungsten-balanced film stock..
